Olean- Matthew J. Maynard, 25, of Olean passed away unexpectedly at Olean General Hospital. Born August 5, 1999, in Olean he was the son of Keith Maynard and Michele Smucinski.
Matthew attended Olean High School, enjoyed playing football, and was known for his athletic ability. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors and in nature, finding a deep sense of spirituality. Matthew was a beacon of kindness and strength, always protective by nature and willing to lend a hand. His quiet acts of compassion left a lasting impact on those around him. He embodied a spirit of generosity, ensuring that his family felt loved and supported at all times. His ability to connect with others and make them feel valued will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister Ashley Maynard of Rochester; a brother Gerald Maynard of Olean; Maternal grandmother Marjorie Butler of Olean; paternal grandmother Brenda Maynard of Olean and two nephews Henry Gagner and Malcom Paradis of Rochester.
Family will receive friends on Saturday (February 1, 2025) from 12 pm to 2pm at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Road, Olean. A funeral service will begin at 2pm. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Allegany Cemetery.
